The Oban Times and West Highland Times
In 2011, The Oban Times proudly celebrates its 150th birthday. From its inception in 1861 The Oban Times quickly grew into the main weekly newspaper for the West Highlands and Islands of Scotland.
That is a position it still maintains 150 years later, bringing reports, news, features, photographs, letters, sport, entertainment and farming from the largest geographical circulation area of any newspaper in the UK.
The whole of Argyll, from Campbeltown to Lochgilphead to Oban, the most western point of the mainland at Ardnumurchan, north to Lochaber, including Ballachulish, Fort William, Malliag and everywhere in between, Skye, Fort Augustus and beyond and not forgetting the Inner Hebrides and southern Outer Hebrides, our team of dedicated reporters and local correspondents gather the news and views from across the area.
The Highlanders’ Bible, as it has been affectionately known, is widely read beyond its borders but it is the best selling weekly newspaper in the West Highlands thanks to its comprehensive coverage of the issues that matter to those living in and from the area.
The Oban Times comes in its traditional broadsheet newspaper format, which can be purchased through your newsagent or is now available online via our digital editions at www.obantimes.co.uk/digital.
Backed up by a regularly up-dated website, with the latest breaking news and lively debate on Facebook, The Oban Times is your one-stop shop to life on Scotland’s west coast.
